Microplastics and Us
So you’ve logged onto social media and come across the term, “microplastics.” What are they? And how do they affect us?
Microplastics are minuscule plastic debris that is the size of a sesame seed or smaller. They pollute water sources from our oceans to the great lakes and many rivers across the planet. They not only threaten aquatic species but also humans and our drinking water.
Often smaller than the naked eye can recognize, microplastics are incredibly difficult to remove from our water supplies. These plastics are not a new problem either and have been seeping into our waterways for many years.
Help reduce microplastics by reducing plastic consumption. Reusing plastic products you have already purchased and do your best to recycle.
