Sustainably Chic
Fast Fashion is a term that has been buzzing around the internet for more than a few years now. We know that fast fashion is all about taking advantage of trends. Not about creating fashion sustainably. Many fast fashion styles are based on looks seen at fashion week. These looks are then sold at an affordable price, but there is a cost.
An increase in consumers led to companies creating more products of lower quality. This leads to less overall use and forces the customer to get more poorly constructed clothes. It is creating a vicious and unstable cycle that leads to the landfill. Most fabrics found in our clothing these days, often contain material that can take upwards of 200 years to thoroughly decompose. Not to mention the amount of water used to create just one collection is overwhelming.
There are plenty of ways to be sustainable when it comes to fashion choices. Thrifting is a great way to discover new looks at an affordable price. Buying clothes that are made from recycled materials is another way to avoid fast fashion. There are more clothes out there polluting our ecosystems than people living on this planet. Stay informed about fast fashion and be sustainable in your fashion choices.
